Smile Big!

Hi Everyone,

I’m Dana, I am a wife and mother to 4 beautiful and energetic children. I am a working professional located in Lethbridge, Alberta where I was born and raised. My 18-year career has allowed me to delve into the lives of people from all walks of life to consider the stresses and pressures they encounter daily. I have also had the opportunity to coach, teach and mentor youth during this time which allowed me to build relationships and gain insight into the struggles and trials our youth face daily. I am a very driven individual who obtained a diploma in Criminal Justice in 2004, followed by a bachelor’s degree in professional arts in 2012 and am currently pursing a degree in History at the University of Lethbridge.

I am pursuing this endeavor because I believe we can make a difference in your teen’s life. Our program is focused on skills, tools and positive reinforcement that each youth can learn so they will feel confident as they move through life. I know the most important people in your teen’s lives are the people who love and care about them. My goal is to equip your loved one with skills and scenario-based learning that will help them be BOLD N BRAVE in the times that matter most. You can ask anyone who knows me, I will do everything I can to reach out to your teen, so they know they are genuinely important, and their unique qualities are welcomed and hoped for. I have been on the other side where people supported me for the better and I want to give back to our youth and our community.

I look forward to meeting you and your teen because I KNOW the BOLD N BRAVE Team can be another positive influence and voice for youth to help them navigate the paths that life will throw at them. Thanks again, Smile Big!

CARL HOLLAND

Hi Everyone, I’m Carl and I am excited for this Bold N Brave Adventure. There are many things I love in life but my wife and kids are at the top. I am someone that many refer to as “the fixer of things”, I learned at a young age the importance of working with my hands and figuring things out and it is that skill that has brought me many opportunities to learn throughout my life. One of my passions is Science so I pursued a degree in Chemistry. After completing my degree, I learned that the path to my dream job was not so easy and I continued my education at the College in Agricultural Science which led to my career as a Lab technician.

I can be found most days in my garage working with my forge, fixing something under the hood of a vehicle or sawing away at my latest project. I enjoy the outdoors, camping and exploring new areas with my family. A long time hobby of mine is riding motorbikes. There is something serene about the poetry of motion that is a nice bike ride.

I look forward to the “building of youth” we will see through this BOLD N BRAVE program. I can attest that Dana has put much thought into all the details with helping youth at the heart of every decision.

SHAYLA FAROUGH

Shayla Farough happily resides in Taber, Alberta with her beloved husband, adorable daughter and adventurous son.  Shayla works as an Advertising & Resource Coordinator for Real Estate Centre by day, and enjoys volunteering her skills and talents to organizations and individuals in her spare time.  She may have been proudly raised in a Saskatchewan ghost town, but her heart has grown to love Alberta and British Columbia as well, as her career path has taken her to some pretty special places across Western Canada!  In her youth, you could find Shayla spending a lot of time at her favorite summer camp, working with kids and enjoying nature.  Another passion of art and creativity lead Shayla to pursue a Degree in Applied Arts (Visual Communications) at Medicine Hat College. While working on her Degree, Shayla spent a work term with Alberta Future Leaders as an art teacher, worked as a gallery assistant for an art gallery in Northern BC, before settling into a graphic design career working in magazines and newsprint.   Never afraid of a challenge or adventure, she has worked diligently over the years to expand her knowledge and stay up to date on the latest marketing practices. Shayla loves community and looks forward to opportunities to be present and involved.  It is easy to find her enjoying local parks, camping, and community events with her family, friends and work group. Shayla is proud to be a member of the Bold N Brave team and believes wholeheartedly in Southern Alberta youth. She looks forward to meeting the many talented young people that will join us on this adventure.

Josh Hill

Joshua Hill is a 2nd year master student at the University of Lethbridge in the field of Psychology. He has worked with various youth groups over the past 15 years. From participant to leader, he has learned how important such youth groups are to the healthy development of our children. He is also an instructor at the Lethbridge College and teaches electrical apprentices the craft of being an electrician. This, along with his 12 years as an electrician, provides him with experience in the apprenticeship model of training. A model that promotes individual attention to instruction and hands-on practice of theoretical concepts. When working with youth and students, he employs this type of model as he has found it builds resilience and confidence.
